I'm also no slouch, or noob, when it comes to art - I'm aware of the baby steps. I use to paint and draw, and threw clay for a while too.

I have a sony point and shoot, and I'm pretty fucking good with it

it will double as your spare cam when you, eventually, get a real, complete dslr system

with a real VIEWFINDER!

better learn to walk before you can run. start with a 100 bucks point & shoot cam

you will have spent 5K before you have even one more or less complete system

besides: a dslr is a SYSTEM. you also need at least 3 or 4 lenses, a big flashgun, and a hefty tripod. For starters!

But yes, I've discovered an interest in photography myself and haven't the money for a dslr yet but like knowing where all the people with the expensive things are.
