Math is the most pure and fundamental science we have to understand the world, and it is objective.

Multiple mathematicians around the world have developed the same theories without ever knowing each other.

Well said, sir.

I'd say this also pertains to me. While mathematical theory is fascinating to me, I lack the imagination and ingenuity to create math.  Hence, if I did pursue a career that called upon math, then it would have to be a field where math could be practically applied, such as engineering or the like.

I too have a love/hate relationship with math. It ends up with me massacrating lots of scribbled papers because I got a 0=1.

Obviously, math is used and sucessefully in all fields of science and proven consistent. I do think more work can be done in the field.

I prefer the humanities myself, or, at the very least, I'm more naturally inclined towards them. I do see the appeal in it, however, and I trust I could pursue it if I deemed it necessary.

Because 0.999... = 1 and that's just plain awesome.

I don't like maths. Mathematicians are like plumbers – if I need one I can hire one. ?

I'm not an intellectual type person. But when I was in school math was my favorite subject because it didn't involve any reading/writing and it was just like this puzzle you had to solve.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Yeah, pretty much this. I am a sucker for puzzles. I was always terrible at absorbing the lessons from my teachers, so I always figured out my own unconventional methods to figure out the problems on my own instead. I made a game out of it sometimes. Some of my teachers thought I was really weird, but at least one liked me.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

I was good at math in school early on. I then lost interest in most subjects though so it's not like I've got something against math.

I'm good at it Tongue

All of the above except I'm not very good at it Wink I did an open study course in it, and did alright in my coursework, but completely fell apart in the exam. Still love it though... particularly statistics and probability.

I don't like math because I suck at it and I prefer logic. I like math because it's logical. I prefer logic.
