I don't want to sound rude, but what career do you plan on pursuing after you get a college degree in that?

As a former philosophy major I think I know the answer to that one.  Please don't mock us.

Wh are you here?

The main reason I joined was to gather insight into the question I posted on another forum: about how science proves that the miracles of the Bible did not happen. That was for an assignment, and I wanted to understand the argument better.

Do you study comparative religions and non-literal, fundy interpretations of xtianity?  (For the sake of your mortal soul, I hope so.)

Yes! There is a course about world religions, and I've studied various worldviews. The arguments are given for all sides, but with the focus being on the Christian worldview. Professors generally explain opposing world views, but continue to show the ways they are inadequate to explain the world we live in.

Yeah.  They have similar schools in Mecca that come to a different conclusion.

That was my first question. Why would you spend three years at a bible college?

Why would you spend your time on atheist forums discussing ideas? Probably because its something that resonates with your identity and beliefs. I choose to study at Bible college because I strongly believe in the Bible and want to know everything I can about the revelation God has given us. I want to grow in my understanding, and build relationships with people who believe the same thing as me. Its not just my religion, its my lifestyle. That doesn't mean I hate those who don't believe the same. It doesn't mean that I'm going to spend my life condemning those who do things that I don't agree with. It means that for me personally, I want to know my creator and live according to His Word.

Can you tell me why you don't accept an allegorical rather than literal reading of the bible (assuming you don't)?

I believe the Bible is true because I believe in the God spoken about in the Bible. I have experience the power of God, and He has transformed my life. There is a verse that says that all Scripture (the Bible) is God-breathed, which means that it is inspired by God.

Also, looking objectively at the New Testament as a historical document, It was written close to the time of the events it talks about, and the earliest copy we have found is within 30 years of the original writing. There are 5800 historical copies found, and the accuracy compared to the originals is incredible. The New Testament as a historical document is historically reliable, which is a good reason to me to believe in it. Internally, it is consistent, even though there are many writers who contributed to the overall Bible who wrote over a long period of time.

Oh, that's nice. But do tell, do the professors also point out ways in which christianity is inadequate to explain the world we live in?
