Science Reveals the True Cost of a Burger
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201...100813.htm
We can discuss it all you like, but I got this comment from Josh (a Russian Jew who I refuse to trust but love anyway - just in case he ever finds this): "This is why (barring my current weight-loss experiment) I only eat meat for special occasions. (Going to a fancy restaurant sometimes counts...) (Also, chicken wings are magically transubstantiated into vegetables when football is on TV. I'm like fucking Jesus that way.)" Anyway, some of this is the reason I support urban gardening efforts to lead to more local production of fruits and vegetables. I don't know much about meat production. |

RE: Science Reveals the True Cost of a Burger
Quote:The UK could considerably reduce its carbon footprint if more of us switched to a vegetarian diet, according to new research by Lancaster University. If people ate shit we wouldn't need cesspools, either. Ain't going to happen. The nutjobs want us to subsist on Soylent Green. |

Thomas Jefferson ate mostly vegetables, and ate meat more as a condiment as opposed to the main course. then again, I married a German woman...so its sausage, cheese, sauces and such. |

RE: Science Reveals the True Cost of a Burger
I refuse to feel guilty about my 'carbon footprint'.
Although I am not intentionally profligate,I don't really care enough to actually DO anything significant. IF I was serious, I would sell my car, buy a bike ,and stop using electricity generated by burning fossil fuels. Here domestic solar power has become very popular due to huge government subsidies. I have not adopted it as I still need to fork out over $15,000 to be fully self sufficient. I don't have that money to spare and do not use credit. Besides, last time I looked, you could not grow bacon, chicken or steaks as vegetables. |

You can have my cheeseburger when you pry it from my cold, dead, greasy fingers.

"This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber."

We have too many local republicans and libertarians as it is. I have tried to cultivate local meat, but I usually get slaped for my efforts. |
