So much for a kind, loving god.

So any parent that punishes their child is not loving or kind by your definition. God warned the Israelites for years and they would not repent, if He had not punished them they would have never believed Him. The same for a child, if a parent tells them they will punish him/her and then does not the child will believe they have the upper hand.

RE: Psalm 137:9
Quote:inspired by God himself.

God inspires tales of infants being dashed to pieces? Fuck him.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt because this bullshit was clearly written by men who did not attribute it to your holy sky-daddy.

But, maybe I'll take your word for it that the Homicidal Maniac in the sky was behind it.

P.S. - when it speaks of an event "to come" that is prophecy. It is far from the only example and lots of them failed to happen.

In many cases I don't even think they were originally intended as "prophecy" but rather as execration texts which, since they would actually require a god who could get off his fat ass and do something, aren't going to happen either.

No God inspired the sorrow in the heart of the psalmist, He shows us the sorrow and hate that can come from disobeying Him.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

RE: Psalm 137:9
Christianity is a fraud. The Bible is VERY redundant and trite. I read it and was not inspired. I was actually shocked at how disgusting the Old Testament is. Why do you defend this nonsense anyway? What purpose does it serve to you or anybody else for that matter???

BTW, you should know that your hero, Jesus never existed in history. He is a fabricated and plaigerized amalgamation of various pagan gods. Christianity is even WORSE than Islam in total death count. Become a buddhist, lol, at least you won't feel as persecuted and uptight.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

Take it up with G-C. He's the one who claims your holy horseshit was inspired by his sky-daddy.

For myself, you should understand by now that I think it is all bullshit written by power-crazed priests trying to consolidate their hold on ignorant goatherders.

Theists are claiming that people can say things in the bible without what they said becoming the word of god.

A question to theists; if you say the above, that people can say things in the bible that aren't the word of god, how many other things would you lose? You take plenty of advice from dialogue in the bible. In fact, many of the moral messages and commands are made by people or the narrator, and not god directly. Are you saying that only things that god said in the bible should be considered as his commands?

Your problem is you specify the question and generalize the answer. Yes the bible is the word of g God and is truth. Yes the bible contains people who sin who follow God. And yes the bible everyone sins including the best profits on the bible (exception of Jesus). I fail to see a contradiction here.

You avoided the question completely. In the future, if you want to say something completely unrelated, don't nest a quote to do it.

Let's start here.

Ezekiel - A Prophecy Against Tyre

Quote:19 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I make you a desolate city, like cities no longer inhabited, and when I bring the ocean depths over you and its vast waters cover you,

Modern Tyre - 4th largest city in Lebanon.

Hardly desolate. Hardly covered by the ocean "depths."

Looks like 'god' fucked that one up.

Hasn't happened yet. From my understanding it's supposed to happen during the apocalypse. I don't exactly know so I will look for the answer. I wish you would do that instead of jumping to conclusions.
