First Amendment = Christianity Only

The constitution is only as powerful as the ruling class want it to be, and in the case of Guantanamo and rendition, it is ignored as it becomes inconvenient.

And there are speed limits posted on the roadways.

Take those signs down and see what happens!

But, its the usual bon afaire around here... point to the anomalies to push your points. Throw the baby out with the bath water!

"Get rid of that nasty, outdated Constitution."

Would you please point me to the post on this thread where someone suggested that the US should get rid of its Constitution? I notice you put that in quotes, which implies you're quoting someone who actually said that. I don't trust that you know what quotes are for, so a post that asks for the removal of the Constitution in other words would be fine. Thanks in advance.

The name 'God' isn't mentioned in the Constitution. I think they dated it with the phrase 'Year of Our Lord', but you'd have to be a lunatic to think we're bothered by a common dating convention of the time.

Consider the possibility please, the you may be really, really clueless about what we're saying and doing. The Americans among us at least, like the Constitution. No one advocated getting rid of it.

Someone pointing out that Madison and Jefferson have been dead awhile and therefore it is the current Court's job to figure out how to apply the Constitution to real life cases. You can make a strong argument that the intent of the founders still matters because the High Court attempts to divine that intent in making their decisions; but you chose to go on a rant about tearing up the Constitution instead.

You don't know what's going on in this thread, Ronedee, to an extent that I have to wonder if there's something going on with you that's causing this confusion.

Do you ignore, or just give passes to what atheists say? Or, are you just concentrating on Christians' every utterance in order to trap them?

I "may have" overracted (and quotes can be used for "emphasis") but, here's some quotes from this very thread....

"What the Founding Fucking Fathers intended don't mean shit anymore. That was 200+ years ago and things have changed."

"They were also quite big on slavery.
So why the fuck are their 'intentions' still relevant."

"It's fundamentalism for the constitutional crowd (with all of the hypocrisy and ridiculous outcomes you'd expect of fundamentalists and their flawed reading of "scripture")."

You may "say" that this is no proof of a "torn up paper", But, I would be eviscerated here for tyranny and unpatriotism! Actually, Christians tied to the Constitution (in any way) are! And in this thread!

So, let me ask you (and the others) a question.... If religion, God and "any" mention of them in the Constitution were to be removed would you be for it?

None of those say what you asserted was said, Ronny. Not in the slightest. Dodgy

Time for you to pull your head out of the pope's ass and wake up, Ronny.

Of course no one wants to answer that question.

Well... here's an easier one for you.

What, your god question? If you're trying to equate god in the constitution to something actually vital like a human heart, I may just die of laughter. Think carefully: my blood would be on your hands, there.

Well, that's what happens when your question is stupid.

Are you doing what I think you're doing and comparing the relationship between religion and the constitution to that of the heart and the human body?

Because if you are, you're more deluded than I first thought.

I'm not surprised that anyone would think religion is as important for a person as a vital organ is to the body. This life is just the fork in the road to eternity, after all. Right?

That last quote was mine. Way to take it out of context, ronedee. I can't decide if you're clueless or dishonest. In any case, my remark was in the context of characterizing a group of people for whom original intent is the fundamental question and guiding approach to constitutional interpretation -- a position not shared by all constitutional scholars or judges. How you make the leap to concluding that I am of the opinion that the constitution is irrelevant or should be torn up mystifies me.

Please provide evidence that God is mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. If you can't -- and you can't -- then your question is just nonsense.

The Constitution is fine the way it is. It already protects us from the notions of primitive thinkers like yourself. Your kind just need little reminders of that fact once in awhile. Besides, no matter what one would have changed, another would just find it to be flawed.
