You are absolutely right. Baghdad was pristine until the Mongol invasion. I had my cities mixed up in my head, but I looked it up and got things straight. No, the real loss was the library at Alexandria that Caliph Omar ordered to be destroyed. That was before Baghdad.
But, like my earlier caveat said, those who were responsible for the renaissance were scholars that happened to be Muslims. Islam isn't necessarily the reason they were intellectually enlightened; Baghdad's location as a central hub to the world had everything to do with how they needed to be more open to new thoughts and ideas. Otherwise they would have remained a bunch of assholes like Caliph Omar.

I never said Islam was the reason for the enlightenment. I was responding to the individuals that said Muslims have always been backward and also specifically ask 1200's when Muslims were excelling in every field

You weren't responding to people when you said that Islam was the religion of wisdom and knowledge, the first post that you posted on this forum was titled Islam IS the true religion of humanity and in the first post you made statements about Islamic contributions to science.
My point is that if you believe scientific achievement is related to religious beliefs being true then why have you neglected to mention that a lot of other civilizations with different religions have contributed a lot to science.
And as for blaming the jews and other governments for Islams downfall, if they were so wise and knowledgeable why did they not see it coming, before world war 2 and before America was even an independent country I'm pretty sure the British had superior technology to any Islamic country.

There not giving Muslims weapons.
