Did I miss that thread? Did anyone suggest he quit using Christianity as a crutch and learn some fucking empathy for his fellow human beings?

It was a little while ago, he asked for feedback from people about things we thought he could improve, and 'not spamming smileys and being such a condescending ass' apparently slipped under the radar for him.

It's hard for people to make that kind of change when they don't realize what's causing them to be that way in the first place.

I know.. right but....sheesh.... i mean when it comes to that time or if it every does for theists to stop believing there is always something they are holding onto or a proverbial ball and chain is whats stopping them. I mean like how can someone say i feel love from god when its them making themselves feel loved and no outside or divine love at that.

You're asking the same questions that got me interested in psychology.

People fool themselves all the time - and not exclusively in a religious context - in order to preserve their own inner narrative.

I agree, but you'll find that many people don't - including several atheists.

So if Christianity would go away completely then EVERYONE would go to heaven without all the bull shit.

Get it?

Gifts are great and good especially when the creator gives them out.

Those guys look like they work 'in the rear with the gear' where people can still afford to deny God. (Note the big High wall behind them and the gate.) Again a base is not a fox hole.

Wow you presumptuous piece of shit.

I better block your ass before I blow an aneurysm.

My husband is not an atheist but he was also not a combat troop and worked on a base. His base still came under fire occasionally. One of the helicopters he had ridden in was later shot down during a mission. His job was meterology and he also had given the weather briefing to the crew of the helicopter. Sometimes my husband and his coworkers had to go outside the base to fix equipment.

Drich it sounds like you know little about how the military is run. Do you think combat troops don't ever come back to base? Also, why do you assume these men are on a base in the first place? You can not tell by looking at the photos what job these men do.

There will be people from every denomination in heaven.

There will be people there that had never heard of Jesus.

It is a nice sentiment. What version of Christianity someone follows depends on who they are as a person. You are probably a nice person so your religion is softer and more kind than Drich's.
