This is the most disturbing part to me:

What happens if the daughter wasn't recording? The report indicates that the cop's body camera was missing video. I want to extend a special 'fuck you' to this Selvidge asshole. Sure, he later reported concerns about his partner's conduct, but it wasn't important enough to intervene. I suppose this is the conduct we can expect from 'good' cops.

Everyday, hundreds of thousands attend sporting events or other civic activities in the U.S. that traditionally require recitation of the national anthem. It's a fine poem that carries significant meaning, but its rote regurgitation cheapens its significance. People reflexively repeat the words without understanding, the same as millions that throw up The Lord's Prayer everyday because of habit devoid of understanding or sincerity.

The last two lines are: "O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave". Combine this with the oft repeated police mantra "to serve and protect" and most would consider us closer to Eden than Dystopia; however, the police serve and protect themselves whilst denying citizens their freedom. Inject a sympathetic court system and much of what they do could hardly be considered brave.

Cops are mostly overgrown stupid third-grade hall monitors. 'Good cops' do exist, but I think they are sequestered inside Yucca mountain with reasonable Christians (Unitarians), moderate Muslims, and compassionate conservatives. I have personal experiences with each, but nothing that would warrant the rest of the world acknowledging their existence rendering them mythical.

Actually I don't support this. Legislating what underpants you can wear is too restrictive and it was on his facebook wall which should be semi-private like a diary other people can peek at.

What matters is not his choice of trouser penis barrier but how he acts at work.

Nothing posted online is private. So it is a public action, not a private one. If you want to do things in privacy, you don't post them online, unless you have shit for brains.

Yeah, most employers...especially public employers...have rules regarding off-duty conduct.  It is not a "free-speech" issue as no one is throwing his sorry ass in jail for it but given the circumstances it is well within the parameters for the North Charleston PD to say "we don't want someone this insensitive working for us."

I just half amazed that they acted at all!

My now former employer outright stated that they have a "team" devoted to snooping on employee's social media.  It was actually brought up on a review.  Cabelas is a christian company, and they were concerned with my activity.

Reminds me of a story about a guy in a car at a stop light, not responding. They tazed him and dragged him out of the car. turns out he was having a siezure. Cops are often so prone to violence, it's obviously a training problem. Who is training these cops to act with violence so quickly?

Well, the guy was black if I remember.

I wish I could post a great, new sketch from Key and Peele in which a white cop is shooting black people holding ice cream and stuffed animals but he lets a white guy carrying an assault rifle and bands of ammunition go, but they don't seem to have uploaded it yet.

When you have stories about black people getting shot when holding toy guns (including a guy in walmart holding an item the store was selling), while the police act with much more restraint at a convention of white people where shots had been fired, a story like the ice cream one would be somewhat believable.
