Fuck the tenth dimension. I've got all I can do to cope with the four in front of me.

I wish I had another dimension in my stomach.

The video in the original post is a re-post of a video from the YouTube page 10thDim. The original video is this one (which was posted in June of 2008). There is also a book that compliments the video series. The narrator is Rob Bryanton (he's from Canada if I remember correctly). He has a website.
Original video:
Things have moved on in physics since that video was posted. I found Rob Bryanton's videos rather thought provoking when I came across them all those years ago. I began to wonder how the extra dimensions would affect religion, and how in many universes people like "Jesus" and "Muhammad" would not exist. That would be great if proven!
Here is the 2012 version of the video that was posted in the original post to this topic:

Imagine the shape of American stupidity in voting for trump. Take away 31 million dimensions, and you have left 10 dimensions.

It's an underappreciated fact that in superstring theory, all the complexity of the laws of physics with the different forces and particles, actually come from the geometric structure of the 6 higher dimensions. The superstring alone is a very simple thing, all the messy particle physics comes from how they would move and attach in the higher dimensions

I think people might appreciate this radio interview with Rob Bryanton, the narrator of the video (I love the 360 camera):
Turns out he lives in Saskatchewan and is famous locally.

I thought there were 11 dimensions.

Superstring theories themselves have 10 dimensions, but there is a conjecture about a theory unifying the various superstring theories into an M theory, and that has 11 dimensions.

If there are more dimensions than 3, is it even possible to detect them somehow, to find out that they actually are.

Absolutely, depending on what their properties are. First of all, if they are curled up (and that's the most common assumption to render them invisible to everyday experience), how and whether they can be detected experimentally depends on two factors:
1. which fields and particles can move in them
2. how large they are
If none of the known particles, but only gravity, can actually propagate through the extra dimensions, they must be relatively large to be noticed in experiments such as the LHC (for example, if there are two extra dimensions in which none of the known particles can move, they must be of micrometer size to be visible in next generation colliders)
If some of the known particles can move in the extra dimensions, possibly all of them, this means that everything including ourselves is spread out in the extra dimension(s) via quantum uncertainty. The fields which move in the extra dimensions can form resonances much like the acoustic standing waves you notice at certain frequencies in a small room. In particle physics, those resonances manifest as a repeating pattern of heavier copies of the existing particles, calles "Kaluza-Klein-Modes". Searches for such extra-dimensional resonances are ongoing at the LHC, but so far haven't yielded results.
