It's all about control, really...at least for me - pain doesn't do much to me unless the endorphins are already zipping along and then it's like throwing a little chili pepper in chocolate.
There's relaxation and pleasure to be found in surrendering complete control to someone and being able to trust that they'll make it good for you both. It's such a weird dynamic - even as the helpless one you have a certain amount of power over the person who's supposedly in command.
