Not to mention that I live in a christian dominated community, and there's no drawback to being a christian in my day-to-day life, yet I lead a nonreligious life.
The idea that atheists can't be contributive is a testable claim, and it's been proven that some people claim to be atheists and yet are good people, and some people claim to be christian and are bad people. Bill Gates gives to charity while the WBC protests funerals.
Atheism has lasted as long as theism. All it takes is one guy to say he thinks the mountain spits fire because there's a fire spirit living there, and a second guy saying he doesn't believe that. One guy believes in fire spirits, and the other doesn't.
I was only asking if atheism is a new thing, created in the 1900's or so. I believe it is, and if we discover it was, then atheists cannot claim anything about being irreligious. In fact they will only be able to claim that they are directly acting out against God, for purely evil or ill-will'd intentions.
Atheism "created" in the 20th Century? So you know jack shit about western intellectual history. What a surprise.
