You've got me here? Are we torturing American citizens? Is it OK to torture someone who is determined to kill as many infidels as possible, in order to get information that could save hundreds or thousands of innocent lives? Maybe it's not, but then maybe it's not OK to kill thousands of people in war to protect innocent lives. I believe there are circumstances in which we can justify torture of sworn killers.
Torture is never justified. Firstly it cedes the moral high ground. You cannot claim to be the "good guys" if you go around tolerating torture. Secondly, it just does not work.
