A family member researched our geneaology and got much further than I ever expected he would. He made some interesting as well as what could be considered inspirational discoveries about our family's ancestry, and also uncovered some deeply disturbing facts that I would've preferred not knowing the details of; None of it mattered enough to cause me to alter or question my perception of myself or my life in general, though. I'm not certain how it could've, short of the possibility of an an inheritance somehow being involved.
I actually found my grandmother's informal, unverifiable, word-of-mouth geneaology to be more useful, in that her stories at the very least, had a high entertainment value.
