Well, if y'all did, would my reason be classed as "self-defense"?
I've never had a burglar show up at my doorstep here, but I've had coyotes, and have seen cougar tracks.
I honestly couldn't say. I know that farmers sometimes get licenses to trap or shoot nuisance wildlife, maybe something like that would apply.
But I think the 'self defense' admonition might be intended to apply to people who show up at the police station demanding a gun license so they can finally deal with that noisy neighbor. (just as guess, as I've never been through the licensing process)
