No it still adds up nation wide. The bigger issue and I agree, is that our economy isn't allowing balance so that kids can be better monitored by parents. Livable wages would allow more time for involvement in the lives of youth.
My mom raised me at the worst time after my dad died when I was 13. She did her best and it was only because I was lucky enough not to get caught, and also because I outgrew my destructive behavior, I survived. But when you have parents working so much they don't have time to be with family it makes it that much harder.
Single parents can be good parents but either way, our economy isn't helping.
