Missed that bit. The Romans were unknowingly killing themselves. A little ironic, those at the top and who knew the most were dying through lack of knowledge. Just because it tastes good, doesn't mean it won't kill you. Kinda like religion, full of lovely promises of life after death, a belief that satisfies but those who believe are unknowingly committing intellectual suicide. Unknowingly deluded.
