That's not to say that people who use text speak are necessarily stupid either, it could be laziness or intentionally dumbing down to fit in.
I wouldn't say it's about intelligence, it's about education. I've met very intelligent persons, who weren't able to read or write correctly. Reading or writing are aquired skills, not something you can explain away with intelligence.
Reading and writing skills are definitely something you can explain away with intelligence. It's how I'd explain why humans have the best reading and writing skills in comparison to the other great apes. The way people acquire skills is by learning which requires at least some form of intelligence.
There's a difference between claiming that if you can't read or write properly that you're not intelligent. (Which is what I'm not saying and I explained in my last post).
And saying that mastery even of your own language, reading and writing skills are signs of intelligence.
Learning, application of knowledge, communication, creativity and memory are some of the defining characteristics of intelligence and are definitely required for reading and writing skills.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
