Is it possible that these great lifestyle improvements are a detriment to our ability to live a full life? With no struggle is no glory, nay? With no adversity is no pride of accomplishment?
A little bit I agree with you. Of course I think that things are better now because we have so much leisure time and freedom. Really you can make your life full of struggles and challenges if you want to. Most people don't though. I highly suspect most people in the past didn't either. Most of them were trying their hardest to live comfortable boring lives. But yeah, I do think that in the west most of us don't have real problems, so we invent problems for ourselves. Hence your example of getting mad at a starbuck line. That's really that's person's biggest problem of the day. We evolved in constant struggle and conflict. I think struggle and conflict is in our DNA so when our lives are basically struggle free we invent them everywhere.
