Rape doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's not just done, and then gone. The attacker is usually someone entrenched in the victim's life. Indeed, that's an underpinning of rape - it's not just a sexual attack, but one that exploits the power disparity between attacker and victim. The attacker usually acts because they're confident they can get away with it. And, in the most cases, they feel that confidence because things are arranged in such a way where the victim either fears retaliation or simply that no one will believe them.
So trying to present it as "If they didn't report it immediately, it didn't happen" only illustrates that you don't understand rape at all.
