What? This topic got revived. It's so strange I see some recent posts and yet they look like I already read them.
Well I am aware and believe in 2nd chance. John Lennon made a slip, like you mentioned, but he also regretted that song and even wrote another one for an apology. But do you really think that Mel Gibson will ever apologize or even make an apology movie for the "Passion"?
You know he actually wanted to make an apology movie for his anti Semitic "Passion". It was to ba a movie about the Maccabees (Jews) but it went south pretty quickly. In fact there is very insightful kindle ebook by screenwriter Joe Eszterhas about his work on that movie. He spent whole year living with Mel Gibson and notes how Gibson was assuring him that Jews kill Chatolic children and that their bloody rites should be in the movie.
He also notes how Gibson and his dad and wider family hate what they call "Vatican 2" to which they believe is taken over by Jews. One of Mel Gibson's favorite book that he recommends Aa-1025: The Memoirs of a Communist's infiltration in to the Church
Or as Joe notes how Mel's father told him in front of Mel Gibson's church "Did you know that Cardinal Ottaviani sat on Pope John Paul I's face and suffocated him so they could get the Pope they wanted, John Paul II?" And when he said he didn't know that, Mel's dad replied: "Well, it's true. Study up on it."
And since then I did notice on some internet places, like youtube commentaries, Catholics that cling to that "Vatican 1" and call nr. 2 like the Antichrist. I even wanted to make a separate topic about it, I mean has anyone else heard Catholics being divided.
