I don't marry because I fear divorce. Some entities say that the divorce rate in the USA is about 50% now. So much for "til death do you part". So much for my grandparents' ethic of maintaining their marriage until my grandfather's death 67 years later. That's the only kind of marriage I'd ever want to be in.
But then, you can never be sure how things will turn out, I guess.
I'm disabled, and these sorts of things are taboo (or at least were very much so when I was a teen). So, at 41, I have no dating experience. I first (and last) kissed girls when I was 15. If I somehow didn't have spina bifida, it would be interesting to see if I looked at this subject a lot differently.
Pros of being married? Maybe feeling like you're a part of something special that is larger than yourself. Sex and other physical closeness. Help with the questions of adult life (that sounded weird). A greater sense of identity.
Cons? Compromise. Feeling tied down. Not finding enough alone time. Feeling guilty at taking advantage of said alone time.
I'm sure I could think of more.
