and what makes that a better choice.
In my conviction, teleological ethic makes a better choice. However, the question depends on one's circumstances.
In my circumstances where access to technology, information, democratic state and freedom of speech exist, not to mention individual's intellectual capabilities and autonomy in making decisions, we do not need to follow normative rules. We use our common sense and in most cases in principle do agree with workplace and organisational policies without even having to peruse the legal statements, terms and conditions, guidelines and so on - with the exception of organisations that are steeped in religious ethos. Deontological ethic becomes obsolete in this regard.
Teleological ethic is better as it is selective and evolves upon human's changing priorities in a lifetime. A counterargument would be that given the majority of the state being malicious, selfish, potentially psychopathic and competitive, it is worthwhile laying down the laws engendering a different stance to be adopted, such as deontological ethic.
Either way, I have my own ethics that partly stems from each of the said categories and my own philosophy. Although I would confess my mistakes at times when I have failed to abide by my own ethics and morality, in my innermost convictions, I should do as follows.
1. Never lie except in life-threatening situations where you need to protect yourself or others. In other words, always speak the truth and maintain to do so with courage.
2. Cooperate rather than compete.
3. Help others when they are in dire circumstances.
