It's a political objection to the weather...that's costing them money.
Unsurprisingly, they have to sell their farms piece by piece because the weather isn't doing what it used to do anymore, but none of the other guys have any money to buy their land in part of in whole because they're going under too.

Sad, I'd always thought farmers to be most in touch with the land. Guess I'm wrong on that score, too.
