I'm well aware of our planet's precarious position regarding climate change. I posted an array of articles (only some of which) that implied that the scare tactics used by some are just that, and that the climate change may not carry all the impending doom that Al Gore would have 3rd graders believing.
Umm, except that "Al Gore's scare tactics" are quite real for regions that are sub sea level. For them, it will be the fucking doom that Al Gore shrieks about.
As if Al Gore's credibility suddenly fucking undermines the conclusions of the IPCC, USGS and NOAA. Oh wait, it fucking doesn't.
And with regards to scare tactics, honestly riddle me this -- with the current state of the American public, the past decade of fear culture of terrorists and extreme politics, how can you not expect scare tactics for climate change?
Also, because of those "scare tactics", Al Gore helped make climate change into a household conversation.
Scare tactics are, by definition, deceptive. But what they use, content-wise, doesn't have to be.

Al Gore could possibly be understanding the effects of global warming in his "scarce tactics", while climate projections are getting better. The climate change would be either less or greater than current projections are stating they will be.
So I believe it is necessary to take the worst case projections in account and realize that we need now to get greenhouse gas emissions to zero. Also over the longer term there will be a need to remove excess greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. Because even pouring huge amounts of cash into the development solar, wind, tidal, air, hydrogen fuel cells, biodiesel, compressed air engines. We as a society will be stuck with oil, coal and natural gas for most of our energy needs for sometime. So we need to develop a low cost way of scrubbing greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere.
