One of the big problems with the Criteria of Embarrassment is that it assumes that ancient people thought the same way about things as we do.
Ex. "Why would the jews invent a history which says they were slaves. That's embarrassing so it must be true."
Ans: The point was that their "god" could help even slaves.... the lowest of the low on the social scale... overcome the greatest earthly power if only they just behave themselves and do what the fucking priests tell them to do.
