Optimal according to what criterion?
What makes a decision the best one compared to a suboptimal decision? How is this decided?
Why should we assume that what is best for Mr God is best for us?
The Bible states that "all things work together for good to those who love God".
So even a decision God makes that you deem "sub-optimal" (due to limited knowledge) is in your best interest.
If you gave a small child a choice between eating cake or broccoli everyday, the child will undoubtedly choose cake, but any good parent would choose broccoli, which from the point of view of the child is a sub-optimal descision, but is ultimately in the child's best interest.
