I hate heights too. I hate flying, have to have a couple of calming drinks before I can board a plane. I went as white as a sheet on the roof of Chester cathedral on a tour last year... The steep narrow staircases didn't help on that day though. Seems to be getting worse as I get older.
Strangely enough I love flying, and rollercoasters. The only two areas where the fear of heights doesn't really kick in. But just before christmas I visited Blackrock Observatory and was scared stiff on top of the tower, approx 4 stories of a height:

Phobias are irrational fear of something.
Avoidance of danger is clearly rational.
..
A fear of clowns is irrational.
Unless the clown in question is John Wayne Gacy.
When being inside a building at the first floor (weird system going on, ground, 0, mezzanine, 1) and being afraid to look out a corner window the whole height of the floor for fear of falling when there was no chance of it happening (and getting very dizzy when I finally did), that's irrational.
That's my fear.
