We do not have a free for all...even the "wild west" wasn't a free for all. We have a tangled pile of federal and state regs, and then municipal orders on top...the enforcement of which ranges from lacking to nonexistent.
Yes we do. Our laws/regulations are impossible to enforce to an effective degree to reduce firearm violence to an effective degree. But I get what you are saying. It is ironic how the industry and NRA seem to want to go back to the "wild west" which is ironic considering the laws back then for that time were better regulated than many locals today.
The NRA when it started in 1871, that would have been an org I could have supported even not owning a firearm. Back then there was no "man card" bullshit or "commie" crap. Back then it was, "These things are not toys, take them seriously." But back in the 70s that all changed with people like Wayne La Peedipshit hijacking the org and simply became an industry profit lobby protection racket.
