Though not great, the Syfy series wasn't nearly as horrible as the '84 film, so I think a Netflix season would probably be a better avenue for producing a good adaptation. Netflix could throw a decent amount of coin into design and visual effects and most or many of intricacies of the book could be adequately explored given a sufficient number of episodes.
Plus, viewers could binge watch the entire season instead of having to wait God knows how long for part two.
Agreed. There's far too much there for a film. I might have liked the LOTR films better had they been done as a series.
