A better question to ask is "How do we calculate the age of the Earth ?"
I believe our best estimates are 4.543 billion years old.
We know it's at least 4.374 billion years
In uranium-lead dating, for instance, the radioactive decay of uranium into lead proceeds at a reliable rate. Based on the very old zircon rock from Australia we know that the Earth is at least 4.374 billion years old.
From other meteorites that we've sampled, the age gets pushed to 4.4 - 4.5 billion.
The best estimate for Earth's age is based on radiometric dating of fragments from the Canyon Diablo iron meteorite.
And I believe it's the sample from this particular meteorite that gives us the 4.543 billion years old estimate.
If you are unfamiliar with radiometric dating, Google is very helpful on this topic.
