Author Joan Didion just died today at the age of 87. She had Parkinsons, and from what I've read of her work, I think it's safe to assume she led a full life, even if that life did include seeing her husband and only child dying in the span of two years.
Funny thing is I actually had a collection of her work from the 1960s and 1970s on my Christmas List. I don't know if Dad bought it, and when I trawled the Barnes and Noble that was closing so I could find a great deal, I couldn't find a copy there. Part of me wants to buy a copy in remembrance, and the rest of me knows that I'll have a lot in my queue after that.
