It isn't enough to thank law enforcement or good Samaritans whom neutralize a shooter. I constantly hear anchors and field reporters and politicians say "If it were not for the actions of so and so, it would have been worse." That is fine and all, but I think the better long term tactic would be to care more about how shooters get their hands on the firearm in the first place. Buffalo could have been more than 10 deaths if it were not for the actions of some there, sure. But I'd say 0 deaths would be a better goal. No, we will never end all firearm violence. But our allies look at us and are confounded by our laws and policies. It is not only embarrassing for the sane, it is deadly on top of that.
