I noticed today when checking the powertochoose website for the company rates in Texas, the prices of a few companies have started coming down. Since they allow competition now, some of them are backing off the higher rates. It looks like the $/kwh on a couple of them are about 10% lower than what I was seeing even earlier this week.
It's also somewhat interesting that some of the companies are holding to the higher rates, and will probably continue to. Maybe they have different internal cost structures and ability to shift based on the market, or maybe they just count on inertia of the average customer. All they really seem to be is billing front ends, so I'm indifferent as to who I send the ACH to each month. Regardless of who it is, when there's a transmission issue, I have to go straight to Oncor in every case - all they can do is give me Oncor's phone number.
