Alrighty! Time to spend a little time writing my responses....
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
I dont deny the existance of their god. God has many names; they just worship him the wrong way... I don't get outraged when people deny the existence of my god; people do it all the time.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
Not I! I embrace theistic evolution as a POSSIBILITY. To say evolution is fact is just as incorrect as to say it is not plausible... The biblical claim that we came "from dirt" was a metaphor meant to show case god's power.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
I dont laugh at polytheists. They have not accepted jesus' sacrifice, and that could mean hell. Thats no laughing matter... I not only believe in a triune god, but an infinite one.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
The atrocities in Joshua make my face turn purple too! However, they were ordained by god, for whatever reason, and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah teaches us that god would not slaughter innocents... Also; that is old testament. Old testament law is very different to that of which we are in now.
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
I don't take them seriously because they aren't historically and scientifically backed like my bible is.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
1. I dont look for loopholes. I think its very plausible the earth is 4.54 billion years old.
2. You should know that the "tribesmen" never guessed the age of the earth. And even if they did; it would probably be accurate, as those "tribesmen" kept extremely well documented family trees and were very paranoid about recording history, as to not forget their tradition.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet you consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
1. Im not so sure that hell is infinite
2. My religion is infinitely tolerant towards anyone who is willing to repent from their sin and accept jesus' sacrifice.
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
In what way does our "science, history, geology, biology, and physics" contradict my faith? The bible encourages us to study our world.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
Thats silly. 1 in 10000 is a very low "success" rate. Prayer is a tool mainly to help and better ourselves. Its the praying itself that helps us, not the answering of our greedy prayers.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.
1. You dont have to be a historian to be a christian.
2. You know very well that this reason does not apply to all Christians, and to think such is an obvious product of extreme prejudice.
