The people who refuse to give way to emergency vehicles - or worse, deliberately obstruct them - would undoubtedly be the first to complain when the emergency vehicle they later come to rely on doesn't arrive speedily enough. Thankfully it failed to go through, partially for staffing reasons but also because as I pointed out, the first time an ambulance was unable to get through for my Sam (whose condition necessitated the service fairly frequently) I would rip out the barrier and insert it into the person who thought it was a good idea.
