[split] Dressing up like a superhero to see a movie?
#45
RE: [split] Dressing up like a superhero to see a movie?
"You all" who? No one is laughing at dead people, RD. Well, maybe one or two, but I don't see them commenting on it. Cin is laughing at people who dress up like superheroes. I love superheroes, so I disagree with him, but I'm not stupid enough to think that is equal to disrespect of the dead. The derailing of the thread was against our guidelines and really fucking stupid, but it is still not equal to disrespect for the dead.

Now, to be clear, people who respond to a one-off comment and cause it to snowball are at least partially responsible. I posted warnings in that thread for people to shut up about twice (I probably should have used those precise words, but I wouldn't want more people thinking I'm the boogey man). Still, the comments from you and Hovik continued right along with Cin's and Vae's comments. Syn is absolutely right. This whole "everyone should think like me" bullshit is tired. Perhaps it is something you learn with age, but getting offended and devaluing other's opinions because you don't share them is kind of silly. I'll be the first to call someone out for bunk morality or behavior, but I'm certainly neither offended nor expecting them to change. Some people just aren't going to think you like you. Hell, most people who have hard and fast guidelines for others are more of a pain in the ass at things like funerals than people with a sense of humor. (Read: I would rather have George Carlin talking about my death than the WBC)

And, again, Syn said you were being histrionic in so many words. He said nothing at all about how he felt regarding the warming bodies. I really, very strongly suggest that the moral police around here start reading people's posts and read up on what a strawman is. It's such a waste of fucking time to continuously have to debate around things that are being argued for no fucking reason.

That being said, I like you, RD. I just don't agree with you.
