The first theist likely had little conception of the sort of God you're referring to. He or she would (most likely, given what of the history of religion can be discerned) have been an animist, believing that rocks and trees and the wind and so forth had personalities. now should i read it first and then consider burden of proof or should I only go as far as the first sentence that makes an assumption and ask for burden of proof before continuing ? ( joking )
but in reality who can know what was in the first theist head.
