Passive intolerance is the bedrock upon which active persecution sits. That is the problem I have with even the so-called 'good' Christians in my country. Certainly, not all, or even most, of them would bomb abortion clinics or beat a gay person to death, but far too many of them are anti-choice and homophobic, and while they'll condemn the outright violence, they'll also believe that the motives behind the violence are still correct. They'll still speak the same quiet hatred and bigotry which inspires crazy fuckers to take that hatred and bigotry to its logical extreme.
