Old, my left ankle. Technology cannot pass me by while my brain still allows for learning. There is little appreciable difference between generations. You're still capable of learning the basic interfaces of computers, otherwise you couldn't be posting on this forum.
Quote:I played a simple Atari game console back in the late 70s. It had a simple up down joystick and 1 fire button. Most controllers for game consoles have more buttons than an elevator in the Empire state building. And kids younger than I was back then can kick my ass on modern video games.
Including directional pads... 15-20.
And here I thought the Empire state building had 100-some floors? Right.
Defending your absence of practice at video games with 'oh, I'm old' is a copout. Your reflexes may have slowed, but if you're not willing to put the time in to learn your interface: you cannot expect yourself to be any good at it.
Hell, different games map buttons differently for their default settings. If I attempt to play Radiata Stories, I trip over controls (the ridiculous use of O as the 'affirmative' button while X is not only the 'action' button, but the 'negative' button, which leads to you starting a conversation with someone and then immediately exiting out of it (and some more annoying things))... and I'm a storied gamer.
Quote:The more life changes it stays the same. I rejected the music of my parents just as my younger co workers look at my taste in music and say " what is with you?"
Nothing is with me. I am simply used to different things in a different time.
I didn't reject the music of my parents, which includes ABBA, and I still think that ABBA is worth only a casual listen. Listening to ABBA constantly... one really does have to question just what's with you.
Didn't get introduced to much more than 'oldies, good-time rock and roll!' until I sought it out on my own. You are simply a different person, what you are used to is a worthless argument made by a man too worthless to own up to his own refusals... such to consider them inabilities.
I think you should stop being used to such a defeatist attitude. Might make you a skosh less bitter, and just that one shader brighter.
