Honestly, any organization that gathers children like iron filings to a magnet is going to have the same effect on sex offenders. It's no different than the RCC in this regard. The manner in which cases and accusations of sexual abuse were handled is eerily similar to the way that the church handled their own. Course, they were both reading from the same playbook...so I guess that's to be expected.
One of the few decisions I can remember my father making for me was to opt out of scouting. He went to a meeting, thinking about getting me into it, and decided that it wasn't for him, and it wasn't for me. Good man. I still managed to learn how to tie a knot.
