I think that such a claim would meet softer ears in the latter bits - as many would agree that other faiths (including the faith of origin for your own) "got it wrong". The bit that's gonna need more ass behind it is the first bit.

IIRC, the character of jesus doesn't explicitly condone homosexuality - beyond a reference to all the other laws persisting.......but why do we assume that the author of the jesus narrative was even aware of -all- the laws...btw? Perhaps he was personally okay with teh gays and had simply never encountered the passage in question? In that context it's not so much a revision as an omission of ignorance/cultural mores.
This is purely speculative, of course. Mostly just pondering the narrative for what it is and tallying up a list of things that this would explain handily. Of course, it is just one possibility for why we might end up with a disconnect between two books in the same series of fanfic. I think it's more plausible as an explanation than an invocation of some god...god man..or godly laws and their correct interpretation, personally.
