Going down memory lane for a minute, I was one of the last kids in my class to believe in Father Christmas. Me and this scruffy, neglected boy, whole heartedly believed in him, and happily 'preached' to our class mates of his existence. Hadn't mum heard the sleigh bells and seen him one time?? Our sincerity would have melted hearts. I repaid his loyalty by helping him find dog ends in the gutter (he had a 20 a day habit at 7). Anyway, I digress. Childish I know, but maybe there is some comparison there, somewhere...
I once did believe in something that does no exist (Santa) and now that I look back at it, I know how silly it was and that this gawd is no differant. Gawd is just un-seen, un-heard of and undetected just like santa.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
So after learning the falseness of santa's existence, I was very demanding of evidence for anything else. You can see why I'm an atheist can't you
If you do not learn from the past, you will be forced to repeat it.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
