New York. This is the second time in recent memory that cops have fired without thought to the bystanders in the line of fire.

I'm sure the city is happy that the wounds were not fatal....or course, now the women are able to testify at the negligence trial so maybe it is a wash.

So, they can agree that pointing his gun at the head of the guy was "aggravated assault" but they could not agree that then blowing him away was murder.
Fucking juries are a big part of the problem.

Quote:Police officers fired shots at an agitated man in Times Square late Saturday, thinking he was armed. The bullets struck two bystanders instead, though the injuries were not fatal. TODAY's Thomas Roberts reports.

Quote:Former Phoenix police Officer Richard Chrisman will spend at least five years in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated assault for pointing his gun at the head of a domestic-violence suspect during a 2010 confrontation that ended with the man’s death.
Jurors could not reach a unanimous agreement on whether Chrisman committed second-degree murder when he shot and killed 29-year-old Danny Frank Rodriguez or whether Chrisman committed animal cruelty when he killed Rodriguez’s dog.
