You are woefully ignorant of history and people if you think that. I'm certain Constantine's father thought as you did, and all of his immense persecution did nothing to stop Christianity's takeover of the Roman Empire. In other words, persecution can very easily galvanize a group to violence and resistance, even if the vast majority would be otherwise against such behavior.

This is a play on numbers that you wouldn't use in any other example. Would you eat a big ol' bowl of delicious chicken soup if someone stuck just the tip of a needle in dog poop and stirred it in your bowl? Of course not.

That is a false analogy. This is about a massive group of people who are not all ideologically the same. And that play on numbers is ALWAYS used. Do you go around punching everyone simply because there are a small number of individuals who might punch you for no apparent reason? Of course not. Do you call all gun owners loony idiots and gun nuts simply because there are a small number of such individuals? I doubt it.
