We have survived because we have been able to make use of what is around us in our natural habitat. We made weapons out of rocks and wood etc and have been able to adapt to an otherwise hostile environment that no animal could ever achieve with the same efficacy as a human.
Ever seen an elephant paint a picture?
Or a crow making a hook?
Whilst other animals have not done so with the same efficiency as us yet, this is not to suggest that they cannot, or that they will not eventually. We built cities before our 'cousins'... but one day our cousins could be just as capable of doing so
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
