Yes, I most assuredly pointed out that man is flawed and when left to their own devices have tendencies towards sin, or amoral behaviors. I NEVER made any such claim you had to believe in God to discern right from wrong. Nonetheless, I posted because, yet again, a story regarding a religious cult gone wrong points the finger of hate toward any and all religion. But let me point out the fact that many more atrocities are carried out in secular society, go ahead and do your diligence on public school systems, impoverished countries with rogue governments, crime ridden pockets of cartels and human trafficking, and you will find countless examples of Godless people doing much worse and on a grander scale. Am I ashamed of Churches with scandals, cover ups, and less than impressive apologies, of course. That's inexcusable. But that's not what Jesus stood for. Humans are flawed. I follow Jesus. not you, not any of you, we have proven ourselves unworthy to follow!

.....none of which are behavior exclusive to "godless" people. As you have already admitted, people of your faith are also flawed and commit such crimes. Your comment on secular societies committing more atrocities is highly spurious. It's also irrelevant, some people are simply despicable individuals at their core irregardless of their faith or lack thereof. However, very few atheists go around committing crimes or atrocities on the behalf of atheism, while people committing atrocious acts in the name of their religion is a historically common occurrence.

However, I don't view that fact and then state "all theists are immoral" just because some are criminal scumbags. I just view that as a function of some theists using their religion to justify heinous actions.

So what's your excuse?
