In your clinical role, do you offer "spiritual" counseling or non? I recently looked up some interviews with Sinead O'Connor and was interested in her take on that. It's something that I felt strongly when I had counseling... that the clinicians were strictly non spiritual. I was atheist at the time by the way.
I did comparative religious study and studied ethics in spiritual counseling while I was in grad school and what I learned is that beliefs can be very healing. I learned how to respect each individual's belief system and to encourage them on their own path that leads them to healing and growth, regardless of whether I too share the opinion/belief. It seems to work well.
