Anything I do in life, I do pretty casually. I enjoy soccer. I am the soccer nerd of my family, but I don't hold a candle to a 14 year old girl on twitter when it comes to women's soccer, which I especially like. I have watched maybe 8 matches of the NCAA women's soccer tourney thus far, and will certainly watch more.
I'm looking forward to (N.)Carolina vs. (S.) Carolina, for instance. And I was immensely proud that my home team, San Diego State, got in for at least the third consecutive year. I did fly up to Boise to watch them at Boise State in '12. That's a very random place to ever go, and kind of a nerdy reason to travel 1500 or so miles.
I also really do like music. I don't go see it live but once every few years (I'd have loved to see Allo Darlin' at the Soda Bar here in town, but I screwed that up).
I like being exposed to new music through KEXP and other radio stations throughout the USA, and also through Spotify's "similar artists" list (which can be hit and miss). I like indie, old jazz, and drone. The former two have all sorts of subgenres, which I used to think was a really pretentious thing, but it really can help categorize who you do like and who you might like. As far as jazz goes, I have trouble remembering artists, but know I like hard bop, in general.
