Actually, I have lived long enough to observe evolution, and I don't argue it based on books, but rather the repeatable experiments therein. Those experiments and observations, by the way, are readily verifiable in a way that religious claims never are, even if I hadn't observed it happen myself.
But I have: my family breeds dogs for show, so for a while I could go visit my grandparents and see the litters, generation by generation, and what did I see? Each generation was different from the one that came before it; evolution in action.
Now, you could just bray "but they were all still dogs!" and if you do that you'll only be demonstrating that not only do you not understand how we know evolution is real and how we argue for that, but you also don't know what evolution itself is.
I don't know why you'd want to do that.
